Artist's Comments

Historically - Athena was the patron goddess of Athens. She was the goddess of wisdom and war. She was also known as the goddess of weaving and metal working. She was always accompanied by an owl, which is a symbol of wisdom, and was the daughter of Zeus. Zeus gave her the aegis (small shield) showing the snaky head of Medusa and the power to use his thunderbolt.

Size: 2.5" x 3.5"
Medium: Color Pencil and Iridescent Acrylic
Paper: Stonehenge

Note: The scan truly does not show the true colors of this piece nor the irridescent acylics. Also, the image displayed is a scanned image that is a larger format than the actual size of the artwork, that is why it is so grainy. I will try to get a better image up later.

This is the second of my Greek Theme ACEO Series.
The first is located here [link]

Thank you so much! The owl was quite a challenge to do so small, but I knew I had to incorporate it with her :)
