Epilogue

Journal Entry: Thu Apr 10, 2008, 8:14 PM
Sometimes I wonder about the judges over at epilogue.
 :depressed: :frustrated:
For a few years now, I have been trying to submit other works there, and they would get rejected. Finally a couple of months ago, they finally approved a few more of my works. The ones they denied though, I don't get their reasons.

My most popular piece on my site and here on DA was rejected.

It does not meet epilogue quality and yet I have seen works very similar to this posted up in the fantasy galleries over there. Perhaps it's not detailed enough for them or too much like a children's book illustration. I guess I will have to through their list of definitions of reasons again.

And Blessings of the Green Wood was rejected too.

They said the anatomy was off. Other than maybe she has very broad shoulders and I could of defined them a little more. I don't see what they are talking about. They allow other works, from other artists up and the anatomy is not perfect.

I guess I shouldn't complain and be grateful, for the submissions they have accepted. I think I have grown a lot, since the very first submission that got accepted over there. I think as long as I keep practicing on anatomy, details and backgrounds I will improve and maybe be as good as those fantasy artists over at epilogue.
Thanks for hearing my complaints everyone - just gets frustrating sometimes.

I just discovered this phenomal photographer. You have got to check out this photographer's gallery. The way they capture light and the beauty of the Arabian horse is incredible. Not to mention the other spectacular photographs of dogs and people

As a traditonal fantasy artist, Caroline Muchmore is such a inspiring, imaginative and talented artist. Her skill with the color pencil is astounding, the way she blends and layers the colors. Her works will take you on a magical ride into enchantment and realms you have never seen before.

When I first saw Traditonal/Digital artist, liuyun's works, I was astounded by the way the artist was able to create such beautiful colorful pieces with movement and originality. You will be amazed at this artist's style and ability to capture a moment in time, displaying heart and soul in each piece.

I've experienced the same thing with Epilogue. I have some pieces there but I kind of gave up on it ........ no rhyme or reason a lot of the time ;) Your art is awesome, I a very surprized you had some rejections!

I have never been accepted....so cheer up ^^ rejection is a major part of an artist life i suppose....but on the other hand those are the opinions of a few anal fantasy geeks anyways lol so don't worry too much^^

Every piece I have ever submitted to Epilogue has been rejected. I've submitted pieces that have won international awards and they have been rejected as "not meeting Epilogue standards". Don't worry... at least they HAVE accepted some of your work. For those of us who have been told we're crap, well, I don't worry about it too much. I've come to the conclusion that for the most part it's a private party that the rest of us just aren't invited to. :)

I can't believe they have rejected your works Nora. Your works are fantastic. I'm not going to worry about it, but just keep trying to improve. I am glad I have found DA - I've learned so much since I have joined.

Oh I am done worrying - went through my fit last night...lol
I know rejection is part of an artist's life I'm use to my works getting rejected through many places. It just inspires me to work harder and practice more.
I just don't get epilogue and their criteria for submissions, because they certainly don't apply that criteria to some other artists submissions. It don't make sense.

Thank you! I am so surprised they rejected some of your works. I think your works are awesome too!! I guess it's a place, really for set circle of well known fantasy artists.

Thank you for the compliment! Well, they not only rejected my work -- but banned me from ever applying again (last I heard, anyway) when I asked for specifics. I figure, if you are going to tell me that my work isn't up to your standards -- and I see crap a retarded monkey could have drawn with bananas and poo -- then I'd like an explanation, you know? I don't like their "My word is the end all and be all of the Fantasy gurus on the internet".

I've met INTERNATIONALLY PUBLISHED artists that can't even get on that site. There's nothing more ridiculous than telling a top selling artist that they aren't good enough. I seriously think that whomever is running Epilogue has some erm... "issues". (I'm betting it's a thirty-something year old sci-fi convention geek that still lives at home with his momma and popping pimples and breaking wind between quests on WoW.)

Oh my garsh! They did  I agree with you totally about the retarded monkey  and yes it would be nice to have an explanation, other than it did not meet epilogues standards. I can't believe they turned down works of International published artists - wow.
 I can just imagine a 30 year old geek that likes to hang out at all the cons.
I am beginning to think they are not worth the effort to submit work to anymore. Especially after hearing everybody's response on this matter.

I've not tried recently to submit work there. I kind of gave up on it. A panel judges whether your art is worthy of inclusion or not. Such is life, lol ....... they'll regret it when we are both famous - hee, hee ;)
