April 24th: The Times just put this article out about the artist - proves not a hoax. He just wanted to see what people's reaction would be in starving the dog to death
[link]April 14th: editing the link. I accidentally added spaces - oops my bad.
Here is the right link without spaces
[link]So sorry everyone!
A friend just emailed me this. I can't believe this artist is going to be allowed to do this horendous act again. I remember hearing about this guy last year. Hopefully, if enough people sign the petition, they can stop him. I tried signing the petition but kept getting an error. Might be AOL though.
Here was the email sent:
BOYCOTT! "Artist" GUILLERMO HABACUC VARGAS.
In 2007, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, a so called "artist" took a stray dog off the street, tied it to a short cord attached to the wall of an art gallery and left it there so that it died slowly of hunger and thirst. Over several days, visitors of the art gallery bore witness to this travesty and did nothing. Finally this poor, innocent animal died of starvation.
Does this seem right to you? Does it seem like "art"?
Unfortunately this is not the end, the prestigious Central American Biennial of Art decided, incomprehensibly, that the cruelty this animal suffered was indeed "art", and so, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action in the Biennial in 2008.
WE MUST PREVENT IT! Please sign here:
http://www. petitiononline. com/13031953/ (it is not necessary to pay, or register, or anything dangerous, and is worth the trouble) to demand that this man is not congratulated and rewarded for such a cruel act. The petition is in Spanish and basically says that this kind of behaviour must not be tolerated.
By the way, it has been shown that murderers often begin their careers with cruelty to animals.
It is very easy, takes 10 seconds and is safe, if we waste time forwarding rubbish with cute kittens on it , we should be able to take a moment to ensure that another innocent animal will not suffer the same fate as the dog in the attached pictures.
PLEASE FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO ALL YOUR CONTACTS
PS: if you put the name of the artist (Guillermo Vargas Habacuc) into Google you will find lots more information about this horrendous act.
Here's one site with pictures of the dog abused:

I just discovered this phenomal photographer. You have got to check out this photographer's gallery. The way they capture light and the beauty of the Arabian horse is incredible. Not to mention the other spectacular photographs of dogs and people

As a traditonal fantasy artist, Caroline Muchmore is such a inspiring, imaginative and talented artist. Her skill with the color pencil is astounding, the way she blends and layers the colors. Her works will take you on a magical ride into enchantment and realms you have never seen before.

When I first saw Traditonal/Digital artist, liuyun's works, I was astounded by the way the artist was able to create such beautiful colorful pieces with movement and originality. You will be amazed at this artist's style and ability to capture a moment in time, displaying heart and soul in each piece.

this is what is upseting...an artist sitting hours sometimes even months completing a painting will rarely or may never have a chance to get his art in a gallery but hey if someone abuses a dog poses naked do disgusting stuff with religious sympols like this so called artist from belguim did years ago with the cross and Jesus christ, it's called art and all their hideous stuff gets into galleries and attention-i guess some people call this creativity-this is so disgusing, thank you for alerting us carole i will go off sign and i will also post a link to my journal too!!
